To start off your week, we have your health and beauty tip.
Biotin also known as part of the B-complex (Vitamin B7), is necessary for cell growth, the metabolism of fats & amino acids etc. Biotin is key for growth and strength of hair and nails and beautiful skin that has a nice tan glow.
Your body requires about 3500mcg for new hair growth; taking Biotin along with other healthy hair practices will result in effective hair growth.
In addition to a Biotin supplement, you will see high traces of the vitamin in foods such as:
- Swiss chard and other green leafy veggies
- Egg yolks
- Liver
- Peanuts
- Bananas
It is important to note that excessive consumption of egg whites (2 or more daily), can result in a Biotin deficiency. This is due to a component known as avidin and may result in Alopecia (hair loss), dermatitis and other illnesses.
The vitamin has been found to assist persons with diabetes in several areas.
